Legislation

  • Can we NOT do stuff about voting? I think that I can speak for both Luke and myself when I say that we're really sick of dealing with e-voting. -- Nelson 14:47, 12 Mar 2005 (EST)
Amen to that, brother --- Luke
  • Would you feel any different if you knew the EFF just issued an action alert about verified voting? -- Gavin 17:49, 12 Mar 2005 (EST)
I definitely don't want to put any energy into it, but if other people want to, I don't think it's a BAD thing to do. It's certainly fine to support the EFF in their push. -- Nelson 19:29, 12 Mar 2005 (EST)
  • I think we should not concern ourselves with the FECA and community radio bills: nobody else is touching them, and we don't have the resources / are not suited to really tackle legislation. At this point in our history, I think we should wade into legislation only when it's really important, or to use the legislation to draw people to us, e.g. Save the iPod / INDUCE Act. But it looks clear that a verified voting bill will be passed this session, and the EFF has chosen to endorse one - should we? (Do you really want the system not to be fixed the next time you vote?) We also ought to consider the OPEN Government Act, I think - freedom of information should clearly be something we concern ourselves with. -- Gavin 18:00, 12 Mar 2005 (EST)
